Father David's Anniversary
On Wednesday I celebrated 20 years as a priest and I cannot thank you
enough for your kindness to me. I was overwhelmed by your thoughts,
prayers, cards and gifts. There are a number of thanks I need to make.
Firstly to the ladies who prepared the Hall, the buffet and the cake, to Mary
Cartwright, and Julia, Rachel & Mike Ashton for leading the music so
beautifully (and I have had many comments on how lovely the music was!) to
the readers, servers and everyone who came along and made the night so
memorable for me. Thank you all very much and may God bless you all.
Harkirk Mass
The annual Mass at the Karkirk Chapel in the grounds of Little
Crosby, takes place TODAY Sunday 25th July at 6.00pm and
all are welcome to attend.
Day for Life Sunday 25th July
Today the Church celebrates her Day for Life. This years theme is Lord for
your faithful people, life is changed, not ended, dedicated to raising
awareness about the meaning and value of human life at every stage and in
every condition. Day for life 2010 aims to present the Church’s teaching on
death; it will highlight the importance of the Sacrament of the Sick, of praying
for the dead and of accompanying the dying person
as they journey towards God. There will be a
second collection for Day for Life and if you are a
tax payer there are gift aid envelopes available at
the back of the Church. If you are on the internet for
more information visit www.dayforlife.org
Church Cleaners
We are looking for some more people who would be
willing to help with the cleaning in Our Lady’s Church.
The present team is diminishing in numbers and if anyone
has some time on a Wednesday morning and would like
to join the cleaning team, please let Father David know.
Pope Benedict XVI Visit to England
The lists for London and Birmingham are at the back of the Church. All lists
need to be completed as soon as possible so as we can give names and
numbers in for tickets and coach places. If you wish to go pleas sign up
today. The information available is.
Prayer Vigil, Hyde Park London Saturday 18th September
The Vigil is for adults as well as for the youth and incorporates a procession
of parish banners. It is expected to conclude by 9.00pm after an early
evening start. Tickets cost £10 and that covers the cost of a Zone 1 pass on
the London Underground and a Pilgrim Pack (which includes a Pilgrim Pass
in the form of a plastic bracelet). The price does not include travel down to
London or accommodation (last direct train to Liverpool that evening is
20:11).
Beatification of John Henry Newman Birmingham Sunday 19th September
The cost for the Birmingham Event is £25 and that includes coach travel and
a Pilgrim Pack. The coaches are being arranged on a Pastoral Area basis
and pickup will be from a local point, (possibly St. Helen’s Crosby). I am
afraid will be a very early morning start, as all pilgrims need to be in their
places by 8.30am.
Both events are open air so please so bring some protective coverings in
case of inclement weather.
There are lists at the back of the Church and places are limited. If you are
interested please sign up as soon as you can.
Any parishioners who have parish events please email either Fr David or the web master (please put OLOV or HFIB in the subject to get past the spam filters)
